AI Event Platforms Compared 2026

By Bogdan Maran, CEO, Visual Hive Last Updated: March 2026

The B2B events industry has 75+ companies claiming AI capabilities. Fewer than 20 have technically substantive implementations. Our independent audit of every identifiable AI tool in event tech found that roughly 60% of "AI features" are thin generative-AI wrappers with no proprietary models or training data. This page maps the real landscape — who does what, what's genuine, and where the gaps are.

The market in 2026 — every company, honestly categorised

The Cvent consolidation machine

Cvent dominates through acquisition, not organic AI innovation. Owned by Blackstone ($4.6B take-private, 2023). Spent $700M+ in December 2025 alone acquiring Goldcast (~$300M) and ON24 ($400M), following Splash (Sept 2024) and Reposite (June 2024). CventIQ launched June 2025 with 200+ AI R&D staff. Strong in venue search, predictive registration, content repurposing via acquisitions. Integration risk is massive — Splash still operates independently 18+ months post-acquisition. Platforms with minimal or no meaningful AI

Platform Reality AI depth
Swoogo Excellent registration platform. A basic generative text feature exists but isn't marketed. Their own 2025 report acknowledges AI as an industry trend without claiming Swoogo has built-in AI. ~$11,800/year. Shallow
Webex Events/Socio Under Cisco. ML-powered closed captions and noise cancellation. Broader Webex AI agents are for Meetings, not Events — marketing blurs this. Shallow
Splash Now Cvent. One deep feature: Attendance Insights (ML trained on proprietary dataset). Otherwise no AI. $36,500–$69,000/year. Narrow
RingCentral Events Formerly Hopin. AI Writer, Q&A categorisation, highlight clips. $99–$299/month. Moderate

Emerging / agentic AI (watch list)

Platform What's happening Why it matters
RainFocus Nexus First comprehensive AI agent framework in event tech. Announced 2026. Agentic system with multiple agents. Cloud-agnostic via MCP protocol. If they ship this properly, it's the closest architectural competitor to Erleah's agentic approach. Enterprise platform. Watch closely.
Spark (Gevme + PCMA) Multi-model AI platform. 150+ event-specific tasks. Agent Studio (no-code AI agent builder). Not an event management platform — an AI productivity tool. 13,000+ professionals. Freemium. Interesting for productivity. Not competition for event intelligence.
Message Matrix UK startup. WhatsApp/SMS AI concierge. Patented messaging switchboard + LLM. AI business development agents. Claims 70-90% engagement. Client: Clarion Gaming. 7 people. Raising £500K. Smart channel strategy. ExpoPlatform's WhatsApp partner. Worth watching as potential acquisition target or partner.
42Chat Market's longest-established event chatbot (founded 2016). "Curated AI" — intent-matching with pre-approved responses. Deliberately avoids generative AI. Guarantees 95%+ correct response rate. SMS-first. Pragmatic and effective. The anti-hallucination approach is legitimate. But NLP intent-matching, not modern AI.
Nowadays YC-backed. AI copilot for corporate retreats. Handles calls, emails, vendor coordination. MIT/Johns Hopkins founders. $2M raised. Corporate events, not tradeshows. Different segment.

The dead, the dying, and the cautionary tales

The event tech graveyard is full of companies that raised big money building front-ends without defensible technology underneath:

Company Raised Outcome
Hopin $1B+ $7.75B → ~$50M asset sale. 99.4% value destruction.
Hubilo $154M Returned $75M to investors. Acquired by Brandlive.
DoubleDutch $80M Absorbed into Cvent. Brand gone.
Run The World $14.8M (a16z) Absorbed into EventMobi. "AI" was a rotation algorithm.
Pathable Unknown Acquired 2020. Discontinued ~2022-2023.

Intelligence is defensible. Interfaces are not.

The gap — visible across all 75+ companies

Every platform above solves a piece. Grip does matchmaking. Zenus does cameras. Snapsight does content. Cvent does logistics. Bizzabo does networking + hardware. Message Matrix does WhatsApp. momencio does lead capture.

Not one of them combines: genuine conversational AI that talks to attendees in natural language + intelligent matchmaking that learns from behaviour + support automation that handles real queries at scale + personalised content delivery across 5+ channels + full lifecycle engagement before, during, and after the event + compounding intelligence that gets smarter every year across your entire portfolio.

They all do one piece. Some do it well. None do the whole thing.

Erleah exists because this gap exists. It's not a platform with AI bolted on. It's not a matchmaking algorithm inside an app. It's not a chatbot wrapper. It's an intelligence layer — built on an understanding of how every attendee, exhibitor, session, and interaction connects — that orchestrates the entire event experience.

The front-end features any of these companies offer can be replicated. The intelligence architecture underneath cannot.

Three market gaps where no tool exists

(From our audit)

  1. AI floor plan optimisation — no tool uses ML to prescriptively recommend booth placements based on historical traffic data. Map Your Show and MapD offer rule-based tools but none learn from data.
  2. Unified real-time event operations AI — no product offers comprehensive live-event AI for crowd flow + session capacity + staffing + F&B + safety as an integrated intelligence layer.
  3. Exhibitor placement intelligence — no tool recommends where specific exhibitors should be placed based on category adjacency, historical attendee interest, or traffic data.
